This was quite a great reading week for me. After my last week of very emotional draining nonfiction books, I took a break from reality. I got through the first three Harry Potter's and about halfway through the fourth book. It was great to revisit these characters. I think the first four books are my favorites because there is still my innocesnce and Rowling hadn't started killing of major characters!

Happy Reading!

Billy Miller reminded me of Carolyn Haywood, whom I love, but the length seemed a bit much for your average second grader. I can see it working as a read aloud, though.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered The Year of Billy Miller - Henkes is such a talented writer.
ReplyDeleteHi Stacey, I loved Baby Moustache. I wish Billy Miller appealed to a wider audience. My 4th graders don't love reading about a second grader. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteHi Stacey, we have the same sentiment about animal-themed books. Mrs Frisby though ranks as one of my top reads of all time, so I'm glad you compared Mouseheart to this one. I will hav eto look for it then. I've been seeing a lot of The Year of Billy Miller and I am definitely intrigued! My 12 year old daughter is also reading the Harry Potter Books, she's now in Book 3. I was planning on re-reading the series along with her, but she reads much more quickly on her own. Hopefully I can catch up!
