I did get some reading done in the past two weeks, but not as much as I would have liked. I plan to do some reading over Thanksgiving Break, in between cleaning and putting up Christmas decorations.
I got to read the latest I Survived: The Japanese Tsunami, 2011 by Lauren Tarshis. Click here for a description on Goodreads. I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first one I read. There is so many details that are included, you can tell how much research Lauren Tarshis does when writing these books. The I Survived series has become so popular in my library, it is a rare occurrence to find more than two on the shelf at a time.
Happy Reading!!

Nice paring of two storm books. My students really enjoy the I Survived series. I need to purchase a copy of Eye of the Storm for my library collection.
ReplyDeleteWe only recently got some of the I Survived in our collection but they have been very popular. Like I haven't gotten to one yet because they are always out.
ReplyDeleteWe had Kate Messner visit our school (and a Skype chat the year before). She's super nice and great with the kids. I read Eye of the Storm and was properly terrified. I want to track down the one about concussions and the Everglades (I think it's like Missing or something? Can't remember the exact title).
Happy Thanksgiving Week!
I haven't read anything written by Kate Messner yet, I should catch up soonest. Glad to note that you have a theme going on here with your reading! :) Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteMyra, let me recommend Capture the Flag and the sequel Hide and Seek by Kate Messner. I LOVED both books and so have my students.
ReplyDeleteEye of the Storm does really well in my middle school library. I like anything by Messner!
